Holy Cow. What a crazy busy couple of days it’s been. I’m in Vegas for the Nevada caucuses, and as per usual, this work trip is like vacation, since I only have to wear one hat. Which is why I’m just now writing up a post on how it went on The Mark Davis Show yesterday morning.

On Wednesday, I wrote an article for The Stir in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure pulling their funding from Planned Parenthood. I expected some nasty comments, but was unprepared for the level of hate I received over it.

I got called a whole host of nasty things, but the general theme was, “Jenny is a f*cking liar spreading hate speech with her disgusting anti-choice lies.”

Whoa. What did I say that could induce such vitriol?

Besides, Planned Parenthood doesn’t even offer mammograms, which are the surest way to detect early signs of cancer. How much money do they need to be able to tell a patient, “Yup, that feels like a lump — here’s the number for a place that can actually help you”?

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood pushes abortions, lies about fetal development, and gives advice to pimps on how to set up brothels full of underage sex slaves. Think abortion accounts for only 3 percent of their services provided? Think again.

All backed up with links. But of course, those links don’t count, because they take you to sites like LifeNews.com, or even my own blog, to a guest post from a friend about her personal experience with post-abortion syndrome.

So apparently that friend is lying about her personal experience and emotions. Um, ok.

These are people that probably think Media Matters for America is a credible news source. I could link them to a list of articles on Big Journalism detailing what a shady organization MMFA is, but since it’s Big Journalism, I’d probably just be spreading more vicious lies.

After the first 200 (there are currently 300+) comments, I started mentioning it on Twitter, and some of my friends jumped to my defense. Ben Howe went to town in the comments, politely and firmly defending me, the truth, and life. Jason Whitman wrote an article featuring the piece. Susan Cloud rallied the troops on Twitter, and booked me on The Mark Davis Show to talk about it.

So Mark and I chatted about it, and of course it was totally fun doing a radio hit, even if the subject matter wasn’t so pleasant. Click here to listen: Jenny on The Mark Davis Show 2/3/2012

While I was on the air, news broke that Komen reversed their decision, and would continue to fund Planned Parenthood. That made me so mad, I could spit nails. Did they bow to the nasty pressure exerted by the far liberal left, or was it their intention all along to get a boost in donations?

Later, Komen board member John Raffaelli told Greg Sargent from the Washington Post that nothing is set in stone:

“It would be highly unfair to ask us to commit to any organization that doesn’t go through a grant process that shows that the money we raise is used to carry out our mission,” Raffaelli said. “We’re a humanitarian organization. We have a mission. Tell me you can help carry out our mission and we will sit down at the table.”

So now maybe Komen won’t continue funding in the future? What side of the fence are you on, Komen? Stop yanking us around. You guys can spend your funds as you see fit, and we can choose whether or not to donate to you based on the organizations you support. You’re not making anyone happy trying to straddle both sides of the fence.

Remember that time I went to Las Vegas to run a half marathon because I needed motivation to run regularly so I can still fit into my skinny jeans because I love food way too much to do so unless I’m pounding the pavement? That was the weekend that Thing 2 knocked out her two front teeth.

Because that’s the way life goes.

My mom was taking care of her that day, and they were at bible study. Thing 2’s class was on the playground, and apparently the little dare devil decided to jump onto or off of the monkey bars. The details remain unclear, but Thing 2’s account of it was, “I was on dah playgroun’, an’ I was on dah monkey bars, an’ den I went ‘weeeee!’ Den nobody catched me.”

(I was going to play a video here, but I can’t work the technology, which is totally annoying, and also why I need a technical assistant. Interested in applying? I pay in gummy bears. Meanwhile I’ll just put up a photo.)

Toothless Wonder

One tooth was lost on the playground, the other shortly thereafter at the dentist’s office. And a molar was cracked. A molar not ‘scheduled’ to fall out until she’s twelvish. I was just going to let it be, until I found out that without a bridge, she could develop speech issues, and speech therapy is way too much to wrestle into my schedule, so new teeth it is.

Only insurance doesn’t cover a bridge, because it’s cosmetic. Oh, and they don’t cover porcelain crowns either, only silver. And this is a tooth she will have until middle school. All said and done — close to $800 in dental work. Thank goodness we keep an emergency fund for rainy day expenses like that.

See? That’s what some people do. They forgo fancy restaurants and fun new toys so that when unexpected expenses occur, they can cover the cost. If we were too poor for whatever reason, the group of mamas and grammas at bible study that day all offered to pitch in their own money to help us out, even though it was none of their faults. Communities rally, given the chance.

And I’m sure the dentist would’ve been willing to work out a payment plan, had it come to that.

Anyway, today was the big day that Thing 2 got her new teeth. She was a trooper, the dentist and his assistant were awesome, and my little hooligan is so proud of her new teeth.

When we got home, she climbed onto the kitchen counter and jumped off. Time to start socking away cash into the rainy day fund again…

Smile, Cheese Ball!

I wrote some schtuff recently. You should go read it, because I love my readers and my editors enjoy the web traffic. See? Everyone is happy! Well, except for my liberal friends that don’t like to be reminded of my conservative leanings. So you guys are excused from reading. Except that you really should read, because it will help you to see another perspective.

Perspective is good, people.

I went to Las Vegas last week with a $51 Spirit Airlines ticket. After purchasing said ticket, I found out about the $35 fee for overhead bin usage. Each way. Needless to say, I packed everything into a bag that fit under the seat in front of me. Viva la capitalism!

President Obama is fear mongering again, trying to get his latest stimulus jobs bill passed. You know, because it worked so well in 2009.

In the latest edition of Crap My Veep Says, Joe Biden says he wishes Republicans knew what rape and murder felt like. Yup, he actually said that.

President Obama continues to push the jobs bill, even as we’re finding out that the 2009 stimulus gave money to electric car company Fisker … who sent jobs to Finland.

Guess what happens when the government takes over health care? Rationing!

And last but not least, Muslim students at the Catholic University of America are peeved that there are crosses on the walls of classrooms where they are allowed to perform their prayers toward Mecca.

Happy clicking reading!

It’s the weekly roundup! And it’s not even Wednesday night at midnight yet! Props to me, huh? Well, Thing 1 is in summer camp this week, so I’m getting a bit of relative peace with only Thing 2 and Furbaby climbing all over me. Yay! One hand free to type! It’s a Monday Miracle!

Anyway, I wrote some schtuff last week. And you should click on it, because my editors like traffic. Also because it’s interesting and informative.

Leave my stuffed-crust pizza alone! You know what never solves anything? A government program designed to save us from ourselves. That’s why I advocate against the so-called fat tax.

I also extrapolated why I don’t want my rich, fat cat boss to pay higher taxes: Because I like getting raises. Less capital leads to less investment leads to no bonus checks for a job well done. Boo!!

And I wrote about birth control and why the new “womyn’s health” mandate in Obamacare is dumb and doesn’t actually open up any valuable services to poor people.

Happy clicking reading!

 Tweet This Post

Now what were you saying?

In between choruses of “I’m hungry!” and breaking up fights and swimming and paying bills and visiting with adorable chubby babies, I wrote some stuff. You should totally read it. In the words of Thing 2, “Cuz I say so.”

I really have no idea where she gets it.

Do you know how much oil we’re sitting on in the U.S? A lot. Way more than Saudi Arabia. You know what would be cool? Creating nearly a million American jobs and lowering the cost of fuel. Drill, baby, drill.

Was it a corporate jet? Was it an ATM? Nope, it was Obamacare that killed the economy. I wonder if there was a death panel involved…

Shared sacrifice my hiney. If I hear President Obama say one more time that ‘the rich’ have to pay their fair share, I will scream. Or at least tweet about it. Because Dude? You know what’s not fair? That fact that half the population pays nothing.

That’s the roundup! Have a great week, you guys.

I tapped some keys last week. Some words were strung together. You should go read it all because its like totally thought-provoking and schtuff. And also because page views make me feel good about myself, and as a child of the 80s, I know that’s way more important than math or reading skills.

Some of the comments on my Obamacare Spies piece are so ripe with naiveté that I don’t wonder how Nancy Pelosi gets reelected. Maybe basic comprehension skills are more important than self-esteem after all. Oh well.

Also on Obamacare, I wrote about how the individual mandate bullies Americans into buying health insurance. I used the Obama admin’s own guidelines for recognizing bullies to prove my point. I love hoisting people on their own petards. I hate the words hoist and petard. I promise not to use them again. At least not with cringing.

Remember a few weeks ago when ATMs destroyed the economy? Well last week it was corporate fat cats and their private jets. Pick a scape goat and stick to it, Mr. President.

And then there was that study that suggested Republicans are more patriotic than Democrats. Uh … duh. Democrats need to abandon the Harry Reids of their party and get back to pride in their country. It’s a rockin’ place to live, work, and play.

In the same week that ultra-liberal personality Ed Shultz has been suspended from MSNBC for calling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham a slut, Democratic Congresswoman and DNC chairwomanDebbie Wasserman Schultz is claiming that theGOP agenda is essentially a war on women.

Ms. Wasserman Schultz arrived at her illogical conclusion by citing the predominantly Republican call to defund Planned Parenthood of federal funds:

It’s just so hard for me to grasp how they could be so anti-women as they are. If you look on balance at the entire record, their record is anti-women, their record is a war on women and it’s a priority for them.

Apparently, wanting to defund a corrupt organization of our limited taxpayer dollars equals an intense hating of the female sex. Just in case anyone was wondering, Planned Parenthood is very profitable, which raises the question of whether or not it should be taxpayer funded.

California is releasing tens of thousands of inmates after a ruling by theSupreme Court on Monday. No, they haven’t been wrongfully imprisoned and suddenly found innocent due to some new DNA technology.

It’s just that the prisons are overcrowded.

A sane solution would be to build more prisons. Unfortunately, there’s apparently not enough money to build more steel bars. So, we should totally tax the rich, because even though they pay the vast, vast majority of our taxes, they still aren’t paying enough, because new prisons aren’t getting built!

Another logical option would be to spend less money per prisoner, so that the savings could go toward building new facilities. The average prisoner in the State of California costs over $48,000 annually, with about $16,000 of that going to health care, mental health, and dental costs.

Prisoners, convicted felons, probably have better health care than you do.

Seriously, does your health insurance cover free hormone replacement therapy for you if you happen to be transgendered? California prisons do. And soon, they may even provide gender reassignment surgery as well.

Another week, another round of Obamacare waivers. One has to wonder at this point if the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act applies to anyone anymore. It certainly doesn’t seem to apply to friends of President Obama.

They’re all getting waivers.

The Obama administration granted 204 new waivers nationwide in April, and almost 20 percent of them went to fancy restaurants and hotels in San Francisco. It’s probably a coincidence that San Francisco is former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s district. Ms. Pelosi, along with her Senatorial counterpart Harry Reid, was one of the biggest pushers of Obamacare when the president was trying to get it passed.

The other 80 percent of the waivers went to the usual recipients:labor unions, large corporations, financial firms, and local governments. How nice it must be to be in bed with big government. Sarah Palin had a succinct response to the Pelosi waiver revelation:

“Unflippingbelievable! No, wait, it is believable,” Palin said in an email to TheDC (The Daily Caller). “Seriously, this is corrupt. And anyone who still supports the Pelosi-Reid-Obama agenda of centralized government takeovers of the free market and the corresponding crony capitalism is, in my book, complicit.”

One of the aspects of Obamacare that has gotten a lot of attention for being unconstitutional is the individual mandate. This is the section of the Affordable Care Act that requires all citizens to purchase health insurance, regardless of their need, desire, or financial ability to pay for it.

In a perfect world, no one would ever get sick and require medical attention. In a fantasy world, doctors would work for free, and no one would ever have to worry about their ability to purchase health insurance. Since it’s a fantasy world, mechanics, plumbers, estheticians, babysitters, and housekeepers would also work for free.

Much to my chagrin, this is not a perfect world, and fantasy is not reality. Medical care is neither a right nor a privilege — it is a service, and as such, it must be paid for or donated.

Since health care is a service, Americans should have the ability to choose whether or not they want to spend their money on it. It’s not really anyone’s business as to how another person spends their money on their health.
