new law in South Dakota would require women to wait three days after a physician assessment and attend a counseling session at a pregnancy care clinic before they can have an abortion. Like any law designed to enforce abortion providers to help women make educated decisions, this one is most likely in for a legal battle.

Why? Whether or not to have an abortion is one of the most monumental decisions a woman will ever make. Whatever the reasoning, circumstance, or political spin, the decision to have an abortion is the decision to end a life, and should not be taken lightly.

Planned Parenthood, one of the organizations protesting the new South Dakota law, is notorious for lying to women about the development of their fetuses. Seeing as how it’s the number one abortion provider in the country, it might be a good idea for women to get a second opinion from a pregnancy care center that will offer them more options than abortion.

It’s no wonder that Republicans have such a bad rap with progressives. Apparently, we want to legalize rape. I wouldn’t like Republicans either if that were even one teensy weensy bit true.

The controversy stems from the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortions Act, which seeks to expand existing Hyde amendment restrictions on the use of taxpayer money for abortions by prohibiting indirect funding and tax-exemptions to businesses that provide abortions.

As it stands now, the government claims it doesn’t fund abortions with taxpayer money, yet billions of dollars go to Planned Parenthood for non-abortion services. Which then frees up ‘private’ money for abortions and advice on how to run an underage sex slave ring.

The legislation includes an exemption for the 3% or less of abortions performed after rape or to preserve the life of the mother. The bill explicitly states that federal funding will not be withheld from women that ‘need’ an abortion, just those that ‘want’ an abortion.

When the gut-wrenching story broke of the Philadelphia abortionist that routinely delivered live, viable babies before jamming scissors into their brains to kill them, I had to write about it.

The part of the story that struck me so deeply was the desperation that those women felt walking into that clinic. I don’t believe that anyone wants an abortion; but that women are pressured by family, friends, and society (mostly well-meaning, I’m sure) to believe that the procedure is no big deal.

How far below rock bottom does a woman have to be to walk into a filthy ‘clinic’ and have the kicking, squirming life sucked out of her? That woman needs love and support, not the legal right to an abortion. In the article I wrote, I mentioned some ways to actually help pregnant women, such as donating money to cover prenatal care for those that can’t afford it, bringing meals to single moms trying to make it, or volunteering with a pregnancy care center or adoption agency.

For that I got called a woman-hater.

It turns out that unless one believes that a mother-to-be has the right to end the life of her unborn child, that person hates women. I vehemently dispute that claim. I do like women. I like men, too for the record. I like all people no matter how big or small, no matter their age, and no matter where they live: In a mansion, on the street, or in a uterus.

I believe that God created humans (and other stuff … like everything), and even though you’re not going to get along with everyone, life is worthy of respect.

Warning: The following content contains graphic language about dead babies. It will probably make you cry. Or throw up. Or both.

An abortionist in West Philadelphia has been arrested and charged with eight counts of murder – seven of them being babies born alive after a botched, illegal late-term abortion, and one being a woman who died of an overdose of anesthesia.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, made millions of dollars over 30 years, performing as many illegal, late-term abortions as he could, prosecutors said. State regulators ignored complaints about him and failed to visit or inspect his clinic since 1993, but no charges were warranted against them, District Attorney Seth Williams said.

Gosnell “induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord,” Williams said.

Williams said patients were subjected to squalid and barbaric conditions at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society.

Gosnell is only being charged with seven counts of infanticide because those seven fetuses had the audacity to slip completely from their mother’s body before the doctor could scramble their brains with scissors and kill them. A baby is considered ‘unborn’ if it’s head still remains within the birth canal, so the thousands of children dead by Gosnell’s hands can’t be counted as murders.

A global gathering of talking heads and delegates are currently convened in Cancun, Mexico to discuss global warming. Er, climate change. ‘Warming’ is a bit of a misnomer with all the record cold going on.

I am a huge proponent of being good stewards of the Earth, and I think we should use our resources wisely. But some of the ideas being tossed around the Mother Earth fascists range from unsettling to downright disturbing.

One of the realistic goals covered at the conference so far has been setting up a $100 billion-a-year fund from developed countries to help developing nations implement greener technology.  I’m sure Cambodia’s evil dictator Hun Sen would never launder that money and use it for his own malicious purposes.

If that’s a realistic goal, then the unrealistic, shoot-for-the-moon goals must be doozies. Have no fear, the environ-wackos rarely fail to disappoint in the area of sheer lunacy.

In which I chat with Red State‘s Aaron Gardner about social and fiscal conservatism. Later, Mike G. stops by for an FTA-inspired Cocktail Time.

I am pro-life. I believe that abortion ends a human life. I do not think that showing people pictures of aborted fetuses helps our cause.

Missy Smith is running for D.C. delegate to the U.S. House, and she had two abortions that she now regrets. “I was told it’s not a baby. They lied to me,” she says in a controversial campaign ad. She continues, “And believe me I am angry. My heart has been ripped out. ObamaPelosiReidNorton – they all support the murder of babies and the abuse of women by abortion. It’s time to make child killing illegal again.”

I don’t have a problem with this message, and my heart breaks for Missy Smith and others that have suffered abortions by ignorance. I believe that many women are lied to about the development of their babies in utero. Planned Parenthood has been caught lying to women about the development of their babies. In the early stages of pregnancy, it’s easy to suffer from out-of-sight, out-of-mind syndrome. Most women don’t feel their babies moving or even look remotely pregnant until well into the second trimester, when a baby is potentially viable outside of the womb.

A law passed recently in Oklahoma allows a woman to see her baby on ultrasound before making the decision to have an abortion. Some people might think this is cruel, but I think it’s empowering. Isn’t knowledge power? The bill doesn’t outlaw abortion; it just allows women to make the most informed decision possible.

No matter what side of the issue you stand on, there is no denying that abortion is violent. It’s so violent and against our human nature as women that Abby Johnson resigned from her position as the director of a Bryan, Texas, Planned Parenthood last year after watching an ultrasound of an abortion being performed.

The problem I have with Ms. Smith’s campaign ad is the use of images of aborted babies. Tiny and broken limbs are a devastating fact of abortion, but bombarding the public with these images helps no one. Pro-lifers are well aware of the crushing effects of abortion, and the pictures needlessly upset women that have already had abortions.

The worst thing that a picture of an aborted fetus does is shut down dialogue and discussion with people that consider themselves pro-choice yet anti-abortion. We can have an intelligent and reasonable discussion about the science of life and the results of choosing to have sex (even with protection), but a bloody image immediately turns people off and puts up a wall.

I appreciate Missy Smith’s attempt to inject the truth of human-hood into the abortion debate, but I doubt this ad will convince many people to champion fetus rights.

When you begin to devalue human life, where do you stop? When a fetus isn’t a person, is an infant a person? Princeton bioethicist Peter Singer doesn’t differentiate between the born and unborn, and proudly says that he’d kill a baby if it were in the best interest of the family. Eugenics, anyone?

At the other end of life is assisted suicide, which I vehemently oppose. I think Million Dollar Baby is the stupidest movie ever. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t bother. The chick overcomes tremendous obstacles to become a champion, then becomes a quadriplegic. She begs her mentor to kill her, and in an “act of mercy” he does. It didn’t even make sense for the character. The girl who triumphs over every challenge that life throws at her is not going to give up on life because her body doesn’t work the way it used to.

God puts us somewhere because that’s where He wants us to be, and to play god is to tell Him that He’s wrong. Guess what? We don’t know everything. God does. This is why I never, ever pray for patience. I know that He will give me opportunities to learn it, and having very little to begin with, I don’t have the patience to learn patience.

I heard about Dignitas awhile ago and was appalled but not surprised. The Swiss clinic exists solely to kill people. Excuse me, I mean transition people gently from one side of life to the next. Bull hockey. Death is death is death is death, and it sucks. There may be a small amount of comfort in knowing that someone is in a better place, but really, our lives here are left with holes in them.

So Dignitas expedites the process of dying, leaving an emotional mess of a loved one behind. Rather than going on living, the death clinic is now trying to legalize assisted suicide for the brokenhearted relatives left behind after they helped kill off a beloved family member.

Swiss suicide clinic Dignitas has called for the healthy partners of chronically ill euthanasia patients to be allowed to kill themselves too.

Clinic head Ludwig Minelli has called for suicide drug cocktails to be made legally available to the heartbroken relatives who have just helped their loved ones end their own lives.

‘Relatives should also be allowed to have a prescription for suicide drugs even when they are not terminally ill,’ Minelli told Swiss newspaper Blick Sonntag.

The family suicide kits would be illegal under current Swiss law where assisted euthanasia is only legal for those suffering from terminal illness of incurable chronic medical conditions.

Is that sick and twisted or what? And here’s the problem I have with it: When we start devaluing human life, when does it end? Who gets to decide when a baby is a baby or when terminal is terminal? Who decides that someone in a vegetative state doesn’t want to go on living, even when her mere presence brings joy to others? Who decides when your life becomes inconvenient?

Why even head down that slippery slope?

Jerry Brown’s camp calls Meg Whitman a ‘whore‘ and lefty group NOW endorses him. NOW, of course, would be the National Organization of Women.

Our left-leaning President Obama has no faith in a woman’s abilities to make her own decisions about sex, nor does he believe in our incredible resourcefulness in overcoming anything, including an unplanned pregnancy.

When government health care rationing begins, it begins with women. They’ve already reduced our pap smears and mammograms, and now they’re trying to reduce our access to the breast cancer drug Avastin.

This is the party that’s pro-women? Um … No.

I’ve been in Washington, D.C., this week to attend Smart Girl Summit, the annual conference of Smart Girl Politics. Over 200 women from around the country have come to the capitol to attend training classes, listen to inspiring speakers like Liz Cheney andMichele Bachmann, and enjoy the general camaraderie of conservative sisterhood.

We also apparently “broke” an Emily’s List intern.

Intern Jamie was reporting faithfully for the liberal website when she walked into a pro-life discussion panel. She was shocked and horrified that one of the speakers referred to the desire to kill babies as freakish.

That’s right, folks, the undercover leftist reporter got her panties in a twist because a speaker at the conservative conference she was infiltrating said something that she took offense to. Piece of advice for Intern Jamie: Grow a pair or get out of journalism.

Some chick named Jess (who apparently didn’t succumb to the vapors upon mention that abortion ends a human life) wrote about Intern Jamie’s horrifying experience at the Summit:

So, smart girls, I have a question for you. Were there any of you in the audience who cringed a little when panelist and congressional candidate Princella Smith said that? Any of you who made the choice to wait a while before having children and never thought that made you a freak of a woman? Any of you who went to an Ivy League school and never thought that meant someone would think you were somehow un-feminine?

Listen up liberals, because I am sick to death of saying it. We conservatives don’t believe it’s freakish and against the laws of nature to decide not to have children, to attend an Ivy League school, or to have a career. Every life is different and unique and we embrace that and celebrate it.

What is against the laws of nature? For a woman to kill her unborn child for no reason other than being pregnant is inconvenient.

Reproductive freedom and choice has nothing to with abortion. No one is forcing anyone else to get pregnant. I’m not sure if women are aware of this or not, but babies come from having sex. Don’t want to get pregnant? Don’t have sex. We’re not animals, incapable of controlling our carnal impulses.

Conservatives believe in women — their strength, ingenuity, and resourcefulness. Conservatives will help you face the unexpected challenge of pregnancy head on, through crisis pregnancy centers, countless churches and community centers, and adoption agencies. Conservatives have no doubt that women can accomplish anything, even getting through an unplanned pregnancy.

Stop pretending that the legal right to kill our unborn children is the gender equality that Susan B. Anthony was fighting for. Abortion has nothing to do with feminism and everything to do with advancing a liberal agenda that doesn’t believe in women and their extraordinary abilities or the strength of their spirits.

Princella Smith is right. Liberal feminism, the idea that women are incapable of overcoming challenges, is in truth, a freak of nature.
